Randy James, 39, killed in Austin shooting

Randy James was fatally shot in the Austin neighborhood early Saturday in the city’s first slaying of 2015.

James, 39, was standing on a sidewalk in the 5000 block of West Superior Street when he was shot in the abdomen area about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

James, of the 4600 block of West Adams Street, took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, which later transferred him to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he died about 5:50 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area North detectives are investigating.
