Thomas Porter was ordered held without bond Thursday after prosecutors claim he fatally shot Trevon Williams during an Auburn Gresham dice game last month.
Porter had invited several friends over for a Dec. 23 dice game at his home in the 7800 block of South Lowe Avenue, said Assistant State’s Attorney Akash Vyas.
Prior to the game, the group was hanging out on the front porch, where several people saw Porter with a handgun, Vyas said.
At one point during the game, witnesses heard a gunshot then saw Porter, 19, with the gun in his hands and fellow participant Williams on the floor, Vyas said.
Other members of the dice game called 911 and emergency personnel found the unarmed Williams shot in the chest inside the home, Vyas said. Williams, 20, of the 6400 block of South Lowe Avenue, died at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The three other people playing dice identified Porter as the shooter, and he was arrested Wednesday, Vyas said.
On Thursday, Judge James Brown ordered Porter held without bond.
