Edwin Cook killed in Chicago Lawn shooting

Edwin Cook was fatally shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Cook, 19, was standing on a sidewalk in the 6600 block of South Oakley Avenue when a black vehicle pulled up and a gunman exited and opened fire about 9 a.m., authorities said.

Cook, of the 6600 block of South Bell Avenue, was shot multiple times and died at the scene, authorities said.

A police source said Cook was on probation for a weapons charge and was scheduled to appear in court in February.

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area South detectives are investigating.
