Ronnie Shaw Jr. was shot to death in the Austin neighborhood Monday night.
Shaw, 17, was walking in the 4900 block of West Erie Street when he was confronted by a male with a gun about 7:50 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
The gunman opened fire and shot Shaw in the back and leg as he tried to run away, authorities said.
Nearby officers heard the shots and found Shaw lying in the street, authorities said.
Shaw, of the 4900 block of West Ferdinand Street, died at Mount Sinai Hospital less than an hour later, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Nobody has been charged for the killing.
Area North detectives are investigating if the shooting is gang related.
