Arkeem Shepherd dies one day after being shot in Chicago Lawn

Arkeem E. Shepherd died Thursday afternoon, more than 24 hours after he was shot in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

Shepherd, 22, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday in the 3000 block of West 63rd Street, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Shepherd, of the 1200 block of West 71st Place, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.
