Dominic Fairley Jr. was sitting in a car in South Shore when he was fatally shot

Dominic Fairley Jr. was shot to death early Sunday in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 28-year-old was sitting in his car in the 7700 block of South South Shore Drive a few minutes before 1 a.m. when someone walked up and fired shots into the car, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Fairley was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:19 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 8500 block of South Hermitage.

Police are investigating whether the shooting may have been gang-related.
