Adriana Reyes killed, two men wounded in gunfight outside store in Austin

A gun battle outside an Austin neighborhood store on the West Side early Friday left Adriana Reyes dead and two men injured.

Reyes, 20, and the men, ages 20 and 25, were inside a vehicle outside the store near Lake and Cicero at 2:08 a.m. when they got into an argument with someone in another vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The 20-year-old man fired shots at the other vehicle during the argument, police said. Armed security guards from the store then approached, and the 20-year-old also fired at them. The security guards returned fire, striking all three occupants of the vehicle.

Reyes was shot twice in the head and once in the arm, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was died at 5 a.m., authorities said. She lived in the 3100 block of West Augusta.

The 25-year-old man was struck by a bullet that went through his shoulder and out his cheek, according to police. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

The 20-year-old man was shot in the hand, and was taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
