A man who died after being shot late Wednesday in the Burnside neighborhood on the South Side has been identified as 48-year-old Neal Bratcher.
About 11:10 p.m., Bratcher was standing on a sidewalk in the 9200 block of South University when someone walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Bratcher was shot in the chest, leg and face and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 12:06 a.m. Thursday, authorities said. His home address was unknown.
