56-year-old Bernard Howard dies after being found on sidewalk in Humboldt Park with gunshot wound


A man found shot to death in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood early Saturday has been identified as 56-year-old Bernard Howard.

Howard was found lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound in the 1100 block of North Pulaski about 2:50 a.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Howard, of the 5300 block of West Quincy, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he was shot in the chest and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
