Kenneth Turner died last week, one day after being shot on a street in Austin

Kenneth Turner, who was critically wounded in a shooting last week in the West Side Austin neighborhood, died a day later at a hospital.

The 28-year-old was on the sidewalk in the 300 block of South Cicero just before 8 a.m. on Dec. 8 when he was approached by a man wearing black clothing, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The suspect fired multiple shots, then ran northbound through an alley, police said.

Turner, of the 3100 block of West Warren Boulevard, was shot at least once in the head and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital where he died at 3:44 p.m. Dec. 9, authorities said.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.
