Christopher Ruffin of south suburban Richton Park was killed and a woman injured in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The shooting happened in the 1100 block of North Leclaire Avenue at 1:45 p.m., according to Chicago Police.

The 33-year-old Ruffin was shot multiple times and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A 55-year-old woman was shot in the finger and took herself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where she was in good condition, police said.

The woman told investigators the shooter was walking eastbound on Leclaire when he walked up to the victim and shot him, then ran away northbound, police said. She told officers she witnessed the shooting, but was not with Ruffin.
