A man killed in a shooting that left another man wounded Sunday morning in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood has been identified as Deovolente Simmons.
Simmons, 31, and a 33-year-old man were sitting in a car parked in the 5400 block of South Laflin about 5:30 a.m. when shots were fired, hitting Simmons in the chest and grazing the older man’s head, according to Chicago Police.
They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where Simmons was pronounced dead at 6:42 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 3800 block of West Lexington.
The other man was treated and released.
