Jose L. Lopez was fatally shot late Saturday in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The 37-year-old Lopez was sitting outside with other people about 9:50 p.m. in the 2800 block of West 21st Place, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
That’s when a white SUV pulled up and someone inside flashed gang signs before opening fire, according to police.
Lopez was shot in the chest and mouth, and was taken by a friend to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died less than an hour later, authorities said. He lived on the block where he was killed.
