No charges expected after Reginald Brown breaks into Woodlawn home, is shot by woman who lives there

A woman fatally shot Reginald Brown when he broke into her home and began to beat her early Sunday in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

About 5:15 a.m., the 30-year-old Brown broke into a home in the 400 block of East 62nd Street and began to beat the woman who lived there, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The 28-year-old woman was able to grab a handgun and shot Brown to death during the struggle, authorities said.

Brown, of the 400 block of North Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:35 a.m. An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound to the chest, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police said the woman knew him and the incident was domestic-related.

The woman has a valid FOID card and no charges are expected to be filed in the shooting.
