Courtney Copeland walked to a couple of police officers sitting in front of 25th District headquarters in Belmont Cragin early Friday and told them he’d been shot. He was dead 45 minutes later.

He told them that he had been shot in the back.
Copeland was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

It was not immediately clear where the shooting took place.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday on Copeland, who lived in the 1800 block of South Austin in Cicero and had attended Jones College Prep High School.
