19-year-old Cesar Perez fatally shot just outside Blue Line subway stop in Wicker Park

Cesar Perez was shot to death Wednesday evening at a bus stop near a busy Wicker Park intersection.

The 19-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee, in front of the Division Blue Line stop, at 6:05 p.m. when someone walked up to him and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Perez was shot in the head and abdomen, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:37 p.m., authorities said.

Perez lived in the 1400 block of West Division, just a few blocks from where the shooting happened.

Ald. Brian Hopkins said the shooter was a Hispanic man in his 20s, weighing about 150 and standing about 5-foot-7. He was wearing a red Chicago Bulls jacket as he ran away north on Ashland.
