Arturo Pina shot to death just blocks away from his home in Little Village

Arturo Pina was fatally shot Monday night in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Pina, 37, was walking in the 2800 block of South Kedvale Avenue at 7:36 p.m. when someone walked up to him from a gangway and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was shot in the face and back, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:13 p.m., authorities said.

Pina lived less than half a mile away in the 2700 block of South Komensky, according to the medical examiner’s office.
