19-year-old Davion Spivey dies two days after being shot while driving in Chicago Lawn

Davion Spivey died early Wednesday, two days after he was shot while driving in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 19-year-old was driving in the 6000 block of South California Avenue at 7:35 p.m. Monday when someone standing on the sidewalk started shooting. At least one shot went through the back window of the vehicle, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The shooter then ran off.

Spivey was struck in the head, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:47 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. He lived in the 7300 block of South Artesian.
