20-year-old Albert Hurd shot to death just a block away from his home in Ausin

Albert Hurd died about two hours after being shot Saturday afternoon just a block from his home in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The 20-year-old was outside at 3:42 p.m. in the 5300 block of West Harrison when a dark-colored vehicle drove up and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was shot in the chest, arm and abdomen; and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m., authorities said.

Hurd lived just a block from the shooting scene in the 5200 block of West Congress.
