James Hooks shot to death in Humboldt Park in what police say could be domestic incident

Hooks, 38, was in an argument with someone in the 4000 block of West Kamerling about 9:30 p.m. when the other person pulled out a gun and shot him, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hooks, of the 4500 block of South LaCrosse Avenue, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:54 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the back and his death was ruled a homicide. Police said the shooting is possibly domestic-related.
