Daniel Alcantana killed, second man wounded in shooting in Logan Square

Daniel Alcantana was killed and another man wounded in a shooting Friday in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood.

The attack happened at 6:49 p.m. in the 2900 block of West Armitage, according to Chicago Police.

Alcantana, 20, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene at 6:59 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the 900 block of North Harding.

The other man, 21, was shot in the leg and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said. He told investigators he heard shots and realized he’d been hit.

An autopsy Saturday found Alcantana died from a gunshot wound to the chest, the medical examiner’s office said.
