Sami Talab Salaymeh of Hanover Park killed, woman injured when gunman opens fire on their car in the South Loop

Sami Talab Salaymeh, a northwest suburban man, was killed and a woman injured in a South Loop shooting early Monday.

About 4 a.m., the 27-year-old Salaymeh and a 23-year-old woman were in a vehicle in the 2400 block of South Michigan Avenue when two people walked up, one of whom pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Salaymeh was shot in the abdomen and arm; and the woman suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg, authorities said.

They drove themselves to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where Salaymeh was pronounced dead at 4:41 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 3800 block of Windjammer Lane in Hanover Park.

The woman was listed in good condition, police said.
