Eugene Singleton found fatally shot in gangway in Greater Grand Crossing

Eugene Singleton was shot to death early Monday in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

Officers responded about 1:30 a.m. to a call of a person shot in the 7300 block of South University. They found the 22-year-old Singleton lying in the gangway, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Singleton was shot in the head and back, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:18 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 700 block of East 84th Place.
