After George Morgan Jr. was shot while riding in a vehicle on Lake Shore Drive late Sunday, the others in the car did not call for help or drive to a hospital. Instead, they dumped his body near police headquarters in Bronzeville and drove away, according to police.
The 21-year-old Morgan was in a vehicle in the 600 block of South Lake Shore Drive when shots rang out from a dark-colored SUV about 10:30 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Mason, who was struck in the lower back, was then driven to the first block of East 35th Street, near CPD headquarters, and abandoned, authorities said. Officers found him about 10:40 p.m. lying on the ground.
He was then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 6200 block of North Richmond.
An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the torso, and his death was ruled a homicide.
