A 17-year-old boy has been charged with fatally shooting Latrell McMahon and wounding another man earlier this month in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
Keshawn Freeman faces one felony count each of first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm for the June 18 shooting, according to Chicago Police
McMahon, 18; and a 19-year-old man were in the first block of South Springfield about 1:30 a.m. when they were shot, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
McMahon was shot in the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:56 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 1800 block of South Fairfield.
The other man was shot in the right leg and was taken in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said at the time.
Freeman was ordered held on a $200,000 bond Saturday, according to court records. He is next scheduled to appear in court Monday.
