Michael Griffin of Tinley Park fatally shot in South Shore

Michael Griffin of southwest suburban Tinley Park was shot to death on the Fourth of July in the South Shore neighborhood.

Officers responding about 9:20 p.m. Monday to a call of a traffic crash with injuries in the 6900 block of South Clyde found the 40-year-old Griffin lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Griffin, who lived in the 17500 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Tinley Park, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:23 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.
