Leander Winford of west suburban Broadview fatally shot in Austin attack that left two others wounded

Leander E. Winford II was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting late Friday in the Austin neighborhood.

The three were shot while standing on the sidewalk in the 500 block of North Lavergne about 11:40 p.m., according to Chicago Police.

Winford, 59, was shot in the right arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m. Saturday, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the 2200 block of South 14th Avenue in west suburban Broadview.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left leg and a 32-year-old man was shot in the left arm and leg, police said. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.
