Rodney Phillips Orr and second man fatally shot in Englewood

Officers responding about 10:50 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the 6000 block of South Carpenter found one man lying in the street unresponsive, and another man unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a gray car, according to Chicago Police.

Both men had been shot in the head, and both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

One of the men was identified as the 34-year-old Phillips Orr of the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

The other man’s name had not been released as of Thursday morning pending notification of his family.
