Seventeen-year-old Darrell Peden was fatally shot Monday night just two blocks from his home in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Officers responding about 9:25 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the 4400 block of West West End Avenue found the teen lying in the street with gunshot wounds to the torso, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Peden, who lived in the 4600 block of West West End, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m., authorities said.
