Johnathan Lane dies about 18 hours after being shot in the head in Auburn Gresham

Johnathan Lane, one of two men who were shot in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Thursday night died about 18 hours later at a hospital.

The two men were standing in the 7700 block of South Loomis about 10:15 p.m. when someone got out of a white van and opened fire, police said.

Lane, 23, was shot in the head, and a 25-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Both were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.

Lane was pronounced dead at 4:05 p.m. Friday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Known as Icky, Lane lived in the 7800 block of South Ada, about a block from where he was shot.
