Michael Lucas was shot to death Monday afternoon as the 61-year-old was sitting on his front porch in the Chatham neighborhood.

At 1:18 p.m., Lucas was on a front porch in the 9100 block of South Cottage Grove watching a 3-year-old relative play in the yard.
Someone then fired shots in his direction, authorities said.
Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The child was not injured.
Chicago Police said Lucas was not the intended target of the shooting.
