Vincent Winkfield dies three days after being shot in head while standing on porch in Austin

Vincent Winkfield died Monday morning, three days after he was shot in the head in the Austin neighborhood.

Winkfield, 28, was standing on the front porch of a home in the 400 block of North Lavergne at 1:09 p.m. Friday. A man got out of a dark-colored SUV and shot him in the head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Winkfield, who lived in the 1100 block of North Monticello, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:19 a.m. Monday, the medical examiner’s office said.

Police said Tuesday morning no one has been charged in connection with the shooting as Area North detectives conduct a homicide investigation.
