A man found beaten to death inside a vehicle Thursday afternoon in Austin has been identified as 53-year-old Jerry Lee Cummings.
About 1:10 p.m., Cummings was found unresponsive, with multiple injuries including his groin, inside a vehicle near his home in the 200 block of North Lockwood, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:30 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy Friday ruled his death a homicide and showed he died of multiple injuries from an assault.
Area North detectives are conducting a death investigation, and no one was in custody as of Monday morning.
