Man fatally wounded after being caught in gang crossfire in Uptown last month identifed as 55-year-old Robert Kraft

A man who died after being caught in the crossfire of a gang shooting more than two weeks ago in the North Side Uptown neighborhood has been identified as 55-year-old Robert Kraft.

Kraft was walking in the 900 block of West Wilson at 6:13 p.m. Aug. 26 when one male began shooting at another, and instead struck Kraft in the back, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Kraft was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:51 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

Kraft was not the intended target of the shooting, authorities said.
