Friend finds 62-year-old Gene Williams stabbed to death in his Oakland apartment

A friend made a grisly discovery when he went to Gene Williams‘ apartment in the Oakland neighborhood Saturday evening—the 62-year-old had been stabbed to death.

Sometime between 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., Williams was stabbed inside his apartment in the 3600 block of South Lake Park Avenue, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. A friend discovered him unresponsive and reported it to police.

Williams had been stabbed in the abdomen and also suffered trauma to his head, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:29 p.m. An autopsy showed he died of multiple stab wounds.

Area Central detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
