DeAndre Walton was back in Chicago to attend funeral, visit friends when he was shot to death in Homan Square

DeAndre Walton was shot to death Thursday evening in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side.

About 6:40 p.m., someone walked up to the 41-year-old Walton in the 3500 block of West Polk and started shooting, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Walton was struck several times, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:56 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the first block of North Latrobe.

Friends said on Facebook that Walton had moved out of Chicago, but was back in the city to attend a funeral and visit friends.
