Martell Turner shot to death while sitting in car a block from his Auburn Gresham home

Martell Turner was shot to death while sitting in a car early Saturday about a block from his home in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

At 12:04 a.m., the 25-yar-old Turner was sitting in a vehicle in the 1200 block of West 79th Street when someone walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Turner was hit in the chest and abdomen, and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m., authorities said. He lived just a block away in the 7900 block of South Throop.
