Walter McCurry dies about eight hours after being shot multiple times on a street in Englewood

Walter McCurry was shot Saturday evening in the Englewood neighborhood and died about eight hours later in a hospital.

At 7:23 p.m., the 36-year-old McCurry was standing in the street in the 1100 block of West 57th Street, when someone in a dark-colored car fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

McCurry was struck in the chest, arm and hip; and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:47 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 6300 block of South Morgan.
