Mark Higgins Jr., a father of five, was shot to death early Monday in an Englewood neighborhood apartment on the South Side.
Higgins, 28, was found about 4 a.m. with gunshot wounds to the head and chest on the kitchen floor of a second-floor apartment in the 1100 block of West Garfield, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:09 a.m., according to authorities. He lived on the same block as the shooting.
Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation, but no one was in custody as of Wednesday.
A YouCaring page has been set up to help the family—he had three sons and two daughters, all 12 or younger—and to help pay funeral expenses.
