Jarod Morris killed, second man wounded in shooting less than a block from his Roseland home

Jarod Morris was fatally shot and another man was wounded Thursday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The two men were in the backyard of a residence in the 11200 block of South Edbrooke at 1:12 p.m. when someone fired shots from an alley, according to Chicago Police.

Morris, 22, was shot in the lower back and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and police.

He lived less than a block away in the 11200 block of South Indiana.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the right elbow and was taken in serious condition to Roseland Hospital.
