A man who was fatally shot Monday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood has been identified as 37-year-old Lafayette Montgomery.
Montgomery was inside a vehicle in the 1700 block of North Long about 2 p.m. when someone in a beige vehicle fired multiple shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He got out of his vehicle, and was struck in the head and left arm.
Montgomery, of the 4800 block of West Potomac, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died about three hours later at 5:14 p.m., authorities said.
