A man fatally shot Wednesday morning in the West Side Austin neighborhood has been identified as a 34-year-old Quentin Perkins, who lived just blocks away from where he was killed.
Perkins was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the 4700 block of West Flournoy about 9:20 a.m. when someone walked up and fired several shots into his vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was shot in the abdomen and arm, and when he tried to drive away from the scene, he crashed farther down the block, police said.
Perkins was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. He lived a couple of blocks away in the 5000 block of West Van Buren, the medical examiner’s office said.
