Man found shot to death in vehicle in East Garfield Park identified as 24-year-old Jacob Norwood

A man shot to death Saturday afternoon in a vehicle in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side has been identified as Jacob Norwood, 24-year-old father of two.

Norwood was sitting in a vehicle at 1:42 p.m. in the 2600 block of West Monroe when someone walked up and fired into the vehicle, striking him in the neck, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:09 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 800 block of South Karlov.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
