Man shot to death while riding in car in Englewood identified as 24-year-old Donnell Richmond

A man shot to death Tuesday morning in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side has been identified as 24-year-old Donnell Richmond, who lived in the neighborhood.

Richmond was in a vehicle with another person at 6:14 a.m. in the 7300 block of South May when that person fired shots, Chicago Police said.

When officers arrived, they found Richmond lying on the ground nearby, with gunshot wounds to the chest, arm and hand. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 7:03 a.m., authorities said.

The shooter sped away from the scene in the red vehicle, heading south on May, police said. He was described as a black male with dreadlocks wearing a black hoodie.
