Man shot to death in Roseland identified as 24-year-old Jason ‘Jrock’ Barrett

A man who was shot to death Monday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side has been identified as 24-year-old Jason “Jrock” Barrett.

About 4:15 p.m., the 24-year-old Barrett was in the first block of East 113th Place when someone got out of a silver SUV and shot him in the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Barrett, of the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 5 p.m., authorities said.

No one was in custody for the shooting.
