Argument in vestibule of Gresham apartment building leaves Tanisha Jackson dead, man in critical condition

An argument in the vestibule of a South Side Gresham neighborhood apartment building left Tanisha Jackson dead and two men wounded early Sunday.

The victims in the apartment building vestibule in the 900 block of West 76th Street about 1:40 a.m. Sunday when they got into an argument with another group of people, according to Chicago Police. During the argument, two males pulled out guns and fired shots.

The 30-year-old Jackson was shot multiple times and was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

A 29-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center, police said.

A 28-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the chest, but refused medical attention, police said.

No one was in custody as of Monday morning as Area South detectives investigate.
