Marcel ‘Cello’ Spivey Jr. of Dolton killed, second man wounded when someone opens fire into vehicle in Roseland

Marcel Javon Spivey Jr. of south suburban Dolton was killed and another man was wounded in a shooting Sunday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The men were in a vehicle about 1:05 p.m. at 97th and Yale when someone approached on foot and fired shots into the vehicle, according to Chicago Police.

Spivey, known to friends as “Cello,” was shot in the head, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at 1:23 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the groin, and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
