Jonathan Green found shot to death in street just a block away from his North Lawndale home


Jonathan Green had gone out to get breakfast for his children when he was found shot to death Tuesday morning just a block from his home in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 11 a.m. in the 1100 block of South Karlov found the 34-year-old lying in the street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Green was unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the head and torso, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:36 a.m., police and the medical examiner’s office said.

Green, a married father of seven, lived about a block away from where the shooting occurred. A family member said he had gone out to get breakfast for the family when he was gunned down.
