Bruce Crosby killed, two teenagers wounded when gunman in SUV opens fire on vehicle in Lawndale

Bruce Crosby, known to friends as Koboy Savage, was killed and two teenagers were wounded Monday afternoon in a Lawndale neighborhood shooting on the West Side.

Crosby, 20; was sitting in a vehicle with a 17-year-old girl about 2:20 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Kildare, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said.

Crosby, who lived about a block away, suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 3:21 p.m., police and the medical examiner’s office said.

The girl was shot in the abdomen, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

A 17-year-old boy, who was standing on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred, was also shot in the head, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition.

A police source said investigators do not believe the boy on the street was an intended target of the shooting.
