Seventeen-year-old Ahmad Smith was killed in an Austin neighborhood shooting late Thursday on the West Side.
About 11:15 p.m., officers responding to a shooting found Smith on a sidewalk in the 5900 block of West Thomas, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He had been shot in the “buttocks area” and was pronounced dead at the scene 10 minutes later, authorities said. Smith lived about two blocks away in the same neighborhood. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
No one was in custody for the shooting as of Saturday morning.
